Promotion and Beautification of North Welland

About the North Welland BIA

The North Welland BIA was founded in response to the fabulous commercial, retail, and residential growth in North Welland and the need for a unifying body to oversee the promotion and beautification of North Welland.

The North Welland Business Improvement Area has a membership of nearly 150 businesses. Any business including property owners/managers, located within commercial assessed buildings, within our boundaries and pays property taxes, is automatically a North Welland BIA member, as a special levy is applied to the tax base.

Our Boundaries

The basic BIA boundaries are along Niagara Street from Thorold Road in the south to just north of Quaker Road. You can confirm with our office, if you are located within the boundaries or view our BIA Area Map.

Our Mandate

To improve, beautify and maintain municipally owned lands, buildings, and structures in the area beyond such improvement beautification and maintenance as is provided at the expense of the Corporation of the City of Welland and to promote the North Welland Business Improvement Area as a business, shopping and tourist area.

Our Constitution

The North Welland BIA was created specifically to develop and implement streetscape beautification and promotional programs with a view to increasing business revenues and tourism in the BIA area.

These projects are financed through a levy, which is applied to all properties located within the geographical boundaries of the North Welland BIA.

The administration of these programs and projects are the responsibility of the Board of Directors.
